this is an account in general ledger which records the combined amount of depreciation that has been charged against that asset.When the value in this account is equal to the purchase price of the fixed asset the asset is said to have been written off.All fixed assets（except land）have their own accumulated depreciation account.Also referred to as PFD（provision for depreciation）.
